What do you know about suicide prevention?

The Illawarra Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention Collaborative is currently working with the Black Dog Institute on a project called LifeSpan, Australia’s largest ever Suicide Prevention trial!

In the lead-up to this trial, hundreds of Illawarra Shoalhaven residents were surveyed about their awareness of suicide. More than half of respondents said they knew someone who had died by suicide and 45.8% had experienced suicidal thoughts in the past month. Despite so many people being affected by suicide, the survey also found that our community’s level of suicide knowledge, attitudes and behaviours needed to improve.

Clearly suicide is a major issue in our community but there is a huge potential for change.

To help us find out more about the impact of LifeSpan on the community, we are asking community members to tell us what they know about suicide & suicide prevention via a short, 15 minute online survey: www.suicidepreventioncollaborative.org.au/survey

What can you do to help?
